Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek does not comprise a long trekking route although it covers abundant areas of the Annapurna circuit. The trek illustrates the way to Poonhill. This is the reason behind the trek being named the Poonhill Trek. Annapurna has been listed as one of the most excellent trekking routes in the world and it seems as no shock that the trekking route pulls towards a huge number of tourists, domestic and international, every year. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is designed for those people who do not have sufficient time to spend on a trek but are willing to take all the advantages.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Ghandruk Trek 5 Days is colourful trekking intended for all age groups. The towering mountains, the high hills and the great landscape it presents drags many trekkers to this perfect region of natural loveliness. Besides the out-of-this-world panorama of the Himalayan mountain range counting Mount Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Mount Machhepuchhre (6998m), Nilgiri (7041m), Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna II (7939m), Annapurna III (7555m) and Tukuche (6920m), Poonhill Trek provides trekkers with the occasion to blend together with the local villagers and their everyday life.

This has been planned for an itinerary lasting 5 days. Ghorepani Poon Hill trek 3 days or 4 days is also very much popular for trekkers. The best time for the trek is between the months of February to June, September and November Annapurna Ghorepani Trekking is one of the easiest treks available in Nepal that allows some of the greatest views of the Annapurna Range without having to climb too much of the altitude. On the way to Poon Hill, you will come across dense forests of Rhododendron and some of the ethnic Magar villages. The top of Poonhill offers an unforgettable view of the sunrise while the Himalayas form the backdrop of the scene. The maximum elevation reached on this trek is Ghorepani altitude of 2860m and Poon Hill 3210m and its minimum altitude is 1038m.

Note: 5 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is suitable for all seasons. The booking is open for the 2024/2025 Autumn and Spring with Keen Adventures.

Itinerary Detail

Day 1: Drive to Pokhara

On the 1st day, you will drive to Pokhara (around 200km) by means of Prithivi Highway. The bus will leave at 7 AM in the dawn. It will take about 6 hours of drive in the midst of striking scenery all along the way. You will go to Davis Falls, Fewa Lake, Gupteshwar Cave, Mahendra Cave, Seti Gorge in Pokhara. International Mountain Museum is in Pokhara which provides the latest culture and is devoted to the mountains of Nepal and the Mountaineers who ascend them. Davis Fall means Underworld Falls which is an interesting destination where the waterfalls from the tunnel. Davis’s fall was named after a tourist who died by falling into this water gorge and the source of water is Fewa Lake. Fewa Lake is semi-natural freshwater water. Fewa Lake is the second largest Lake in Nepal which is situated at an altitude of 742m. Fewa Lake is considered as one of the favorite spots for the tourists. Gupteshwar Cave is another holy destination for the tourists. When you walk 2 km from the airport, you will arrive at Gupteshwar Cave where you can see the representation of Shivalinga inside the cave. You can view the two sections of the cave which is, in fact, an interesting thing. Mahendra Cave is an equally interesting destination for tourists and it is said that 90% of the tourists visit this cave. Mahendra Cave is entirely different than the other caves that are present in Nepal. Seti Gorge is termed as a supreme gift of nature. People find it an extraordinary place. In Nepal ‘ Seti’ refers to white which means you can see the white water following from the Gorge which seems very appealing. Sarangkot is well known for viewing the sunrise. People who visit Pokhara do not miss to visit Sarangkot. In this sense, it would not be wrong to say that Sarangkot is one of the best locations for tourists.

Day 2: Trek to Tikhedhunga

After breakfast in the morning on the third day, you will then be driven to Naya Pul (42km) via car/taxi. An hour of walk from Naya Pul will take you to Birethanti, a small and vibrant town near Pokhara. Trekking formally starts from here as you will walk for a couple of hours along the beautiful trail with bamboo forests and water springs on the way. Ramghai will be the place for lunch on day three. After lunch, the trail now takes a gradual ascend finally reaching Tikhedhunga, the destination for the overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 3: Trek to Ghorepani

On the 3rd day, you will ascend around 1000 meters as the trail normally rises. You will come across a lot of small rivulets and river springs. In the middle, you will arrive at the traditional Magar village of Ulleri, which is situated at around 2080 meters. An hour’s hike from Ulleri takes you to Nangethanti, where you will take your lunch. Again walking further hours of a trek from Nangethanti, you will reach Ghorepani, where you will stay. From Ghorepani, you can outlook incredible views of Dhaulagiri I, Tukuche, and an extra adjoining Himalayas. You can still enjoy the sunrise view from Ghorepani. Overnight stay at a guest house.

Day 4: Trek to Tadapani to Ghandruk,

A long working day but one of an important day of your trip You will wake up early in the morning to start the next trip which provides the best clear views and sun rising over the Himalayas. You can enjoy lots of the White Mountains from Poon Hill. After sun rising, you will return to get away and here you will take your daily meal. Ghorepani means “horse water” and is certainly a welcome water to stop the groups of equine, heel mules and equine that carry abundance between Pokhara and Jomsom. From Ghorepani, the upwards leads us to Deurali for another breathtaking view of Annapurna Himalayas Rang & our journey starts to get down to down. After crossing a small river again, we will climb another 30 minutes where beautiful Tadapani village will welcome us and will have our Lunch,  Again your trek continuously leads another 3 hours from Tadapani to Ghandruk. the trail abruptly today passing through the forests where you can find monkeys and different birds. Ghandruk is the second largest Gurung village in Nepal where you can explore the maze-like streets of this thriving Gurung settlement. In addition, you can have a good view of the mountains like Annapurna South and Fishtail. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.

Day 5: Back to Pokhara

On the 5th day, you will trek to Pokhara from Ghandruk after having breakfast. On the way, you come across Sauli Bazaar and the Modi River. At Birethanti, you will have your lunch in a small vibrant town near Pokhara. Birethanti is quite popular as a fish delicacy. The trek then continues towards Nayapul before being driven back to Pokhara. Overnight stay at a hotel

Day 6: Back to Kathmandu

On the 6th day you will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara. and evening will join the dinner with cultural show. It’s all up to you whether you want to stay one more day or willing to return your own hometown. If you want to depart on this day, then you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
